I suspect the landscaping is required by the county -- when the mall was proposed for that site, I bet part of the deal to let it go ahead was that the mall had to maintain some pretty lawns, shrubs and trees for a "nice" look. You may have driven through industrial areas and seen the landscaping they have -- I doubt if the owners of those warehouses/factories give a shit about landscaping, but they're required to keep them up by land use agreements with county land use or zoning commissions.

Our condo building has "lawn people" that the building owner will NOT consider giving up. He pays and pays and pays and let me tell you - we have no lawn, we have some "landscaping" (a few bushes and a lot of mulch) and they show up like clockwork once a week and use the leaf blower to ? who knows, we have no trees, we have no leaves, we have nothing to be blown with a leaf blower. THEN on another day the townhouses next to our building (8 of them, all individual owners, but they must be involved in some sort of HOA) have THEIR lawn people come and they not only blow the non-existent leaves, they mow the lawn so much and so low that all year long it's just a brown sad patch of dirt/earth. Why would ANYONE pay ANYONE to do that? I don't get it. We moved from upstate NY where there was lots of lawn work to do and lots of trees with leaves to be blown, racked, bagged, etc. I thought we'd be free moving to the coast of Oregon. Nope. And what's even more absurd is that 99% of the time these guys show up, it's pouring rain. What, exactly, are you getting done, lawn care wise, in the pouring rain? Dunno, but these "landlords" insist on paying these guys to show up and do nothing, for whatever reason. I thought rich people were more discriminating with their money, but, nope.

Ok, we get it. Leaf blowers are pointless; manicuring a small strip of land once a week is, too. You're annoyed, you're bitter; you know so much more than those you dub "lawn people". (They're called landscapers, you pretentious fuck.) But last I checked, the crew that goes out to maintain the trivial strip of land isn't doing so to draw your privileged, "I'll show you what's worth landscaping" ire; in fact, they aren't the ones securing the contracts for different properties or even remotely calling the shots.
They're just doing their fucking jobs. And, I might add, they're doing a job a lot of people couldn't handle doing for more than a day. Their fight to stay in the workforce isn't pointless; anonymous rants are.

If this were a real problem, I'd say take it up with the company, not the workers. But since it isn't a real problem, I'm just gonna tell (not ask) you to shut the fuck up.

@7 Blowing nothing around with a leaf blower for an hour once a week is not doing any job. They are pretending to do something so they can get paid because someone else believes they need to be there once a week with a leaf blower, blowing nothing around. There are plenty of properties for which landscaping is an actual job. A condo building with a parking lot and mulch around 3 bushes is not one of them and in no way, under any circumstances, does it require the use of a leaf blower.

I am not shaming anyone (other than the rich asshole who owns my building who pays people to do a non-job, but refuses to pay for things like fixing the elevator or the building generator or the parking garage door in a timely manner).
