To everything there is a season.

As the July 4th holiday approaches, its time for Portland to come together in a demonstration of gratitude, solidarity, and support for our neighbors who have been volunteering themselves on the front line to defend our community, our country, and really the world from the dangerous strain of fascist and anti-democratic behavior attacking beleaguering our city.

They have sacrificed their bodies, their mental health, their relationships, their reputations and more to defend and safeguard our democracies in the face of a renewed and rebranded form of Nazism.

We owe them the future.

As we slowly but surely regain our democratic footing, the support and resources they've been asking for are enroute.

Help is on the way.

The tears and blood shed has consecrated our city.

This ground has been sanctified and it is now time to cleanse the air and cool ourselves in the water.

See how the sun shines brightly in the city.

They bought us time we needed.

The provided us with the opportunity to see where the Mayor, the police, and political figures choose to stand when our community and its democratic values are under attack.

They equipped us with the knowledge of fascist crimes against humanity and the opportunity to arrest the spread of their hateful beliefs.

The time for wrestling with pigs is over. It is time for us to make good on their faith in democracy.

It is immoral for us to fail our defenders.

It is immoral to prolong their sacrifice and suffering.

It is immoral to allow our community to be continuously engaged in violence without end.

This land was stolen.

This land can be won back in the name of democracy.

It's our time now.

This land was made for you and me.
