The ruling class view the rest of humanity as nothing more than consumers, wage-slaves and cannon fodder. All major US cities are run by conservative ruling class business interests, including Portland, which has become too liberal for the ruling class to tolerate. The more a mess Portland becomes, the more they will practice what Naomi Klein called disaster capitalism which could lead to what Hitler called the final solution.
