It's telling how many of these "grassroots" organizations finances are managed from the top down by unelected leadership without any input from their membership. They functional as quasi-celebrity brands with nonprofit statuses.

One thing we've had to endure thanks to trump is "pro-democracy" branding that fails to live up to their values.

We believe in "real democracy," accoutability, and empowering individual leadership, that's why our leadership is unelected hasn't changed since the inception of our organization.

We have a vision of democracy being by, for, and of everyone, that's why we explicitly call out specific opposing ideologies as unwelcome in our organization.

As insiders we understand systems of power are cumbersome and difficult for the grassroots level activist to access, that's why we continue the maintenance of those systems eroding our democracy to give us something to do and position us to profit off our participation in a corrupt political system.

Trump and his cronies are going to keep providing us with talking points about how corrupt our system is; abuses of power, grifting off government experiences, improper/illegal use of nonprofit resources, nepotism, corruption and bribery, moral courage, professional ethics, and more.

Setting aside what's best for the country and our democracies, just from a personal survival standpoint, it'd be wise for many to clean their act up and reposition themselves before summer comes.
