Rude Food

Comments

1
Pray this (I, Anon) be the death-rattle of the vegetarian/vegan conspiracy.

2
This town has been getting a lot less vegetarian-friendly and meat-crazed in the past five years or so. Not that I'm complaining. It's still pretty easy to find great non-meat options.
3
I pray this is the death rattle of the I, Anonymous column, which should have been euthanized ages ago.
4
To the author of this I, Anonymous "Rude Food": Kindly F#ck Off.

Signed,

Everybody

SHUT UP, VEGAN!
6
This one's making me hungry for a burger....with bacon. mmmmm...bacon.
7
It's okay to serve both vegan, vegetarian or meat
Wear spikes, hipsters glasses, dreds or... or.... or eat shit out of a can
Perchance sleep w/woman, bi, man or tran

...it's when you tell me THAT I CAN'T OR CAN, goddamn!

Vegans: Always trying to make their TVP slop appear and taste like meat. I will never understand why you have to have your TVP look and taste like meat. Kind of a double standard? Your high horse is just as pathetic as your porkchop tattooed friend. Your passive aggressive IAnon is just as bad as his bacon wrapped pork loin.
9
STRONGLY AGREE WITH THIS I-ANON. So sick of the hipster bacon fetish. Being louder and louder about something you're secretly feeling guilty about just makes you look like a douche. At this point, no reasonable person could honestly believe the corporate animal industry is anything but disgusting and morally reprehensible, so the more pork chop tattoos you get the bigger coward I know you are.

FUCK YOU PEOPLE. Living by beliefs, or trying to, is awesome--I can't people so many of you PRIDE YOURSELVES on despising and mocking political engagement and actually thinking for two fucking seconds about whatever you're shoveling into your mouth.

Fucking bullshit Americans, GOD. FUCK YOU UP YOUR ASSHOLES.
10
Maybe the staff at The Mercury should rename I-Anon to White People Problems.
11
"Maybe the staff at The Mercury should rename I-Anon to White People Problems."

LOL!!!
12
Wow. I did not know my love of bacon made me a hipster. Hipsters may not care for this development.
13
White people don't have REAL problems, so it's their nature to go out and find them.....
14
Vegan rage, oh my.
15
White people dont HAVE problems, we CAUSE problems

"Being louder and louder about something you're secretly feeling guilty about just makes you look like a douche"

Who's feeling guilty? Give me a sharp enough knife and I'll kill and cook that fucking pig myself if I want some bacon. I don't feel the slightest bit guilty about eating meat. You know why? Because I organize my life around a little thing called reason. I examine the evidence for/against moral and evaluative claims, and make judgments based on that examination. Emotionality (and Emotivism) have no part in my reasoning processes.

That said, I've examined plenty of arguments for/against eating meat (including, yes, Peter Singer's 'Animal Liberation'), and while many of the arguments for eating meat are a bit lacking, the arguments against eating meat almost invariably fall prey (get it?) to any number of logical fallacies and easy disputation (biological, historical, and otherwise).

However, I will grant you this, Anon - the bacon craze is most assuredly annoying, and the overuse of bacon in foods/meals that it wouldn't normally grace its presence with has gone beyond novelty, and crossed into a kind of fashionable obscenity. Sort of like tattoos, in a sense.

Then again... I almost have to wonder if some vegans/vegetarians haven't helped to create the bacon fad as a reaction to perceived self-righteous and judgmental dispositions on their part...

Pork: the other white people's problem.
18
@MMR, thanks for reminding the rest of us why we can't stand preachy vegans.
19
Whaddaya mean "white people don't have problems"? My gout is killing me!
20
And there ain't nothin' white people like better than complaining about "white people."
21
How about we all keep out of each other's eating/bedroom/transportation/whatthefuckeverkickyouareon habits and lifestyles.

People's brains are different. Ever hear the term one man's meat is another man's poison? Case in point, literally.

And while being vegan can be considered morally commendable by some, just ruminate on the fact that in other parts of the world humans simply do not have the option to be vegan due to food shortage and famine. Or even living in areas where the soil simply cannot be cultivated enough to sustain the populace.

So if you're vegan, cool. Just remember it's a privilege afforded to you by the circumstances of being born in a first world nation.
22
I know who this post is about Jason French!? Right? Wait No who fucking cares. VEG or VEGAN take your pick or else your body filled w/ goo. Oh BOO hoo meat lovers
23
Bravo, Anon, bravo. Just went vegan myself a few months ago and must say, it has broadened by dietary options (or awareness) and I don't crave meat or even cheese, which is hardest for most folks attempting the switch. Losing weight, gaining energy, and so far (fingers crossed) no signs of becoming a self-righteous, condescending omnivore-hating prick!

Omni or vegan, I think we can all find common ground that the bacon fad explosion has reached a sufficiently absurd level, and requires a swift, quiet demise.
24
I like to lay bacon on vegan things, thus transcending the bitch whoever this particular anonymous has: http://destinationdoughnut.com/2011/06/04/nucular-meltdown-donut/
25
You guys are fucking retarded. Go back to the Midwest.
26
I agree with PDX123. You all should take your fresh, ironic beards and/or tattoos and get the fuck out. A mass exodus of you idiots would clear up the smug currently polluting our town and drop our rents back down to pre-Decemberists rates. Yeah, that's it, go to Brooklyn ... that is, if you didn't already plan on it. If that's the case, I'm sure all relevant parties got the facebook status update via iPhone: ("Wow, I can't believe you're leaving for NY!" [LIKE] "Yeah, I feel the Big Apple is calling me." [24 people Liked this] "Oh, you're gonna love it! You're so artistic and unique that you'll fit right in!" [LIKE]). Just remember, if you leave, you can't come back, okay? Deal? Please do not come back. Let’s see, you can take your PBR t-shirt with you but the Powells t-shirt stays here. I'll sell your fixie for you and send you the money. Oh, and don't worry, our arts and entertainment scene will not miss you; it thrived long before you dorks showed up.

Did someone posted a pamphlet in here? Can I have a close look at it? Corporate greed, Military Imperialistic Methods, something about an invisible guy up un the Sky, basically just like robots. I like this Irony.

Please wait...
