Whatever happened to life directly lived? Now everything has to be turned into a meme, a video, an instagram posting, etc.! Granted I am at fault for looking at social media, which I'm trying to do less and less of. Read Guy DeBord's "The Society of the Spectacle"β€”"All that was once directly lived has been replaced with its representation."β€”and this was written in 1967! Man! Simple things like drinking coffee, eating breakfast, going for a hike, going for a bike ride, etc., now have to be "experiences." So now you must document all of your "experiences" and then share them and then constantly check to see how many people "like" them. What is the "real" world nowβ€”that which is directly lived, or that which is mediated and on the internet and our devices? What a sad, shallow society we've become.
