@1 When any sports bar here commits to a theme the way Sassy's has, you may have a point. Meanwhile, the Ladd Taphouse could do stripperoke and subsidized lap dances and it would still be one of the worst places in town to watch a game.

@6 I've seen '77 both ways. During the fall, it's a fucking nightmare. It's as if every hotel in a 5 mile radius has an underground tunnel to the place and spits out Dallas conventioneers, Chicago food industry bigwigs, and Boston shitheads who get mad when you don't put a Celtics game on 3,000 miles from Boston. And that doesn't count the Ducks and Beavers faithful who pack they place every Saturday, lest they miss a game against Montana or Directional Louisiana.

From winter until about August, however, it's wonderful. Lots of soccer, lots of random sports (ski movies, climbing, World's Strongest), and a much broader spectrum of folks. My mistake was seeing it this way and thinking it was like that all the time. There's no way the OP could've seen Spirit at its worst and posted that. Big strike against.

Fuck sports bars and fuck you.

@8 Fuck BAD sports bars. Blitz, On Deck, and sports-focused Century were outright horrible places to be. However, places like Toffee Club, Beulahland, Claudia's, and Bill's Billiards are great, largely because sports are only part of their total package. But yeah, fuck that guy.

Sports bars have never been the same since Ruth got traded to the Yankees.
