An administrator at my doctor's office asked me out once. And much like the plumber in question, the amorous admin' had a good 20 years on me and prefaced the awkward advance with a disclaimer.

I politely declined, and reminded myself I'm still a nice-looking person. I didn't suffer anything impolite or arrogant, or particularly far out of line. Just a lonely person.

I can see how it might be different had it happened in my own home though.

@3 entitled white male incel much? women have a right to feel safe in their own homes and they sure as shit don't owe men anything, ever, in any kind of way. get the fuck over it. your response reeks of a dude living in mommy's basement typing away on reddit boards about what bitches women are. and since projection is what bullies do best, it's a sure bet you're the one who is single.

OP, I understand. Leave him an appropriate customer comment and if your discomfort fails to subside, recall the multitude of "women in the trades" businesses with impeccable reviews for future service.

@3 eewww. Contrary to your handle, you're really not too funny. I completely agree with CR that assuming that a woman alone in her home being uncomfortable with being hit on by a plumber twice her age means she must be a crazy cat lady who can't get a date makes YOU a woman-hating sicko. At least the plumber is just lonely, aging, socially awkward guy who probably saw a porn once and decided to become a plumber, only to spend the rest of his life up to his elbows in shit and still lonely. But YOU want call IA a prude because she "can't handle a little social interaction"???

You fucking disgust me and like EVERYONE ELSE HERE I will not be one bit surprised when Humphreys blocks your sick ass now and every time you rear your ugly head under some other handle. Not too funny now huh bitch

IA had every right to feel awkward and uncomfortable. Thankfully she didn't say that he persisted any further than that or that she felt physically threatened, I hope that's the case. I hope that she reads this thread and feels reassured that this is not normal behavior and she will never be alone when she speaks out about it. Maybe she can take it to the next level and think of constructive responses for the next time that could diffuse the situation and maybe even give the guy something to think about. I like her own suggestion, something like "Do you really think that's appropriate in this day and times? You seem like a nice guy but this is not the way to get a date".

If you can learn to do this with a confident yet compassionate smile you can settle the tension, assert your own power and personal agency, and maybe even shed some light on an otherwise dark and lonely life. Change happens one life at a time ☯️

Hey Too Funny...IT'S HER HOME. How hard is that to grasp? Time to shut the fuck up, you sleaze.

13

Too Funny, do you have any idea what a sad sack you are?

Keep digging your hole, incel.

Apparently toofunny really believes women can just smile and say no and everything will be peachy keen just fine no problem. Literally every day a woman does the simplest thing and says no to a man and she is harmed - from refusing to smile, to saying no thank you to being asked out on a date, to declining the offer of a drink, and the list goes on and on and on and on and women lose their lives over it. Women aren't overreacting, MEN are overreacting. And calling women man haters because they don't want unsolicited attention from men, it makes them uncomfortable, and they are forced to navigate men and their egos every second of every day even in their own homes by strangers, is deep seated misogyny, perpetuating the problem.

The dude actually did violate a code of conduct expected by his employer which is don't go to stranger's homes and ask them out after you've done the work you were sent there to do.

Continuing to defend his actions and attack those who are telling you exactly why this is kind of behavior is NOT okay, just proves the point even more, every time.

I would have reported the Plumber to his employer, & left a few warning reviews online, to protect other women from this loser. He was way out of bounds. Game over.
To defend him in any way, shows your ignorance.

Am I seeing anyone?

Yeah, he gets outta the joint in a week.
You seem fun. I bet he'd like to meet you.
Where do you live?
