We are never, ever, ever again going be able to get back to normal.

4

Maybe we should have special shopping hours just for low-hygiene people who cannot count to six. OP owes an apology to the grocery store worker.

5

Normal may not be an option. Do you really think that this is the last new disease that the world will have to deal with? Expect more new viruses and, as bacteria evolve in response to the overuse of antibiotics, expect any number of new and interesting diseases and infections.

6

Quit being a distance raper. NO means NO. Quit forcing yourself on others. There should be a dot on a map to alert your neighbours so they can keep their children away from you.. STRANGER DANGER! I hope someone maces your ass.

7

Now that COVID-19 is killing kids will people care more? Or only care when their child gets it and dies? How about it Raven? Will you care more if your child gets sick and dies? Or will you just push on with your bullshit?

This country is in no way prepared to "re-open" and there will be no going back to the way things were before. How many people getting sick and/or dying will it take? I guess we're going to find out the hard way.

In a May 1 phone call obtained by Politico, several officials with the departments of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security discussed the potentially catastrophic effects of a rushed reopening on the same day that Trump had allowed federal social distancing guidelines to expire without a peep.

“The numbers of deaths definitely will be high,” Daniel Jernigan, director of the Center for Disease Control’s influenza division, said of states that were relaxing distancing measures even though their case counts were high or still increasing.

Another official worried that if states all ended their distancing efforts in concert with the federal government, hospitals across the country could get overwhelmed much like some in New York City had been.
Bulldozing ahead, Trump ignores his team's apocalyptic warnings about rushing to reopen:

“If, at the end of stay-at-home orders, you were to lift everything and go back to normal business, and not have any community mitigation, you would expect to see in the second week in May we begin to increase again in ventilator uses,” the official said, according to Politico. “Which means cases increase, and by early June, we surpass the number of ventilators we currently have.”

There’s One Big Reason the U.S. Economy Can’t Reopen

The country faces the same problem today that it did two months ago: There are not enough tests to contain the virus. There is one way out of the mess: To fix the economy, the country must solve the public-health crisis. The U.S. has no national plan for achieving this goal. There is no effort at the federal level that has mustered anything like the funding, coordination, or real resources that experts across the political spectrum say is needed to safely reopen the country.

Whenever a person from the internet says:
“We are never, ever, ever again going be able to get back to normal”
I always go back to my bedroom and cry because they are right. They are from the internet and without any credentials. We must understand they know something we don’t, so just adopt their pessimistic ways and move on.

12

As Trump rushes to reopen, his team is privately issuing dire warnings

It's unconscionable and a complete dereliction of duty for Trump to keep foisting his precious economic restart on the American people without leveling with them about its potential consequences.

I fully admit when I am wrong. I know how to do that. I HOPE that I am 100% WRONG and yet all science and facts dictated otherwise. If I am wrong and this country does not suffer catastrophic loss as predicted (far above and beyond what has already happened), I will come on here and say so and apologize to everyone.

Earlier this year (first weeks of March), I became alarmed with what was happening with COVID-19 and cancelled everything. I had a week's worth of doctors' appointments scheduled in Portland, an appointment to get my hair cut, plans with friends to visit my home, and my sister was coming from the east coast to visit my Mom and I for the first time since we moved here 5 years ago. I CANCELLED EVERYTHING. I chose to stay in my home and not leave.

Everyone said "You're overreacting!!!" That was 3/12. Then the shit hit the fan. Turns out I was not overreacting at all.

People are going to do what they want. In fact they already are. And a lot of people are going to get sick. And a lot of people are going to die. There are literally thousands of scientists worldwide saying as much.

The countries that have beat this virus all have two things in common. They shut shit down IMMEDIATELY, TESTING EVERYONE. Oh and they ALL have female leaders.

But you know, please continue to ignore facts and science.

We're all going to find out how horrific the consequences together, right or wrong.

I'll be the first one to pay up if I'm wrong. 1000X over.

And yes Raven I have. But even if I had not, it would no matter. I don't claim that all wwhite people are evil and all black people are not evil. That is not even remotely the point (and again why it is so difficult to talk to white people about their privilege, they absolutely refuse to acknowledge it. White people have privilege still. It doesn't matter how much you deny it, it exists ALL AROUND US EVERY SINGLE DAY. It is the very backbone of this country. It is why Donald Trump is residing in the White House. It is why a black man can't do anything a white man can without the risk of being gunned down by white men.

You win the shittiest life award, we know. You still have privilege. You are allowed to parent your children, yes? They are in your custody, yes? That right there, given everything you exhibit, which I imagine is a mere fraction of your trauma (whatever word you want to use), is pure fucking white privilege. See, other people would have had their children taken from them as they would be seen as unfit to parent.

Trump does not care who dies. He is forcing people to go back to work knowing they will get sick and die because he thinks this will get him re-elected. He does not care about all of the people who have already died. He has not ONCE expressed empathy or horror or sorrow or any human emotion normal people express when faced with such catastrophic loss. Before COVID-19 he did not express any of these emotions when there were mass shootings, when thousands of people died after Hurricane Maria, or when anything a "normal" president would comfort the nation after happening.

His sociopathic behavior has killed more people in this country than the Vietnam War and the body county, before he is done, will be greater than World War One.

Faced with losing the senior vote, Trump pivots to killing them

Older people know when their friends, relatives and spouses are dying all around them. In fact, they’re acutely conscious of it, and understandably so. They know exactly why there are special hours now reserved for them at the grocery stores and the pharmacies they visit every week. No amount of happy talk from politicians is going to obscure the fact that people they know and love are sick, and they are dying. For that reason alone, the second wave of COVID-19 deaths that we are likely to see in late summer and early fall—exposing thee monstrous folly of “reopening” too soon—should, and likely will, prove to be the final nail in the political coffin of Donald John Trump.

The Coronavirus Was an Emergency Until Trump Found Out Who Was Dying
The pandemic has exposed the bitter terms of our racial contract, which deems certain lives of greater value than others.

Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, with its vows to enforce state violence against Mexican immigrants, Muslims, and black Americans, was built on a promise to enforce terms of the racial contract that Barack Obama had ostensibly neglected, or violated by his presence. Trump’s administration, in carrying out an explicitly discriminatory agenda that valorizes cruelty, war crimes, and the entrenchment of white political power, represents a revitalized commitment to the racial contract.

But the pandemic has introduced a new clause to the racial contract. The lives of disproportionately black and brown workers are being sacrificed to fuel the engine of a faltering economy, by a president who disdains them. This is the COVID contract.

Then there is just basic history, you know, again, facts.

The World Will Never Be the Same Again

In these times of the new coronavirus pandemic, the question of how our contemporary world might change is the most-discussed subject. Many thinkers believe that the world order, relationships between governments and society, and even people’s everyday lives will change unrecognizably.

Those who do not agree with the opinion that “the world will never be the same” underscore humanity’s persistent inability to learn lessons, the short-sightedness and the inconsistency of the human being. On the other hand, there is also the belief that the world is constantly changing, and for change to come about, such shocks are in no way a necessity.

There is truth in all three opinions, but it is indisputable that such a large-scale event that has affected the whole world will have consequences. The course of human history attests to that. Pandemics have always critically changed societies. Sometimes they have had a larger impact on the development of humanity than world wars, diplomacy or significant geographical discoveries.

Of course, there were also many other epidemics throughout human history. For millennia, epidemics persisted alongside humanity and will likely continue to occur for a long time. Every century has seen dozens of viral infections that were localized and contained in time but pandemics that impacted humanity as a whole have brought about tectonic shifts. It is possible that coronavirus is one of them.
