Reading the news for the last couple of days and local papers are falling all over themselves to cry that W&K laid off 11% of their employees.

Yeah, sad to see people lose jobs. I'm sure they'll do fine with the 4 month salary and bonus packages that were also reported.

But really, does anybody but them give a shit? They are a high profile company in PDX, sure. But they aren't actually a large company. Counting numbers, they're quite small. And they really don't have any impact on PDX, other than as another company listed as being from here. They don't actually DO anything for PDX. They could disappear entirely and while the newspapers would cry about it for days, I'm sure; 99.99% of PDX'ers daily lives would go on.

Do you give a shit about Weiden & Kennedy? Why?
