It's the Silicon Valley (over-educated smart-ass know-it-all capital of the nation) type of people Ted Wheeler sold out to who've moved in making Portland as twisted as the places they left behind.

I feel your pain (though, seriously, 5 years)?

When I moved to Seattle from Brooklyn (after growing up and going to college in NYS), I couldn't believe how people behaved. The no shows, especially. Is it really that hard to show up? Is it really that hard to say no? Is it really that hard to let someone know if you've changed your mind? Most of the people I made friends with in Seattle at first were not from Seattle. I had co-workers who came from everywhere (or had lived away from Seattle after growing up there and returning). My closest friend had moved to Seattle from NYC years before me, so we bonded. It was through him that I met someone in Seattle who is a rarity in the PNW (but they do exist, you just have to find yours) - the native who introduces the good people to the good people so the circle of good people just grows. After I met her, my entire life changed in Seattle and I am forever grateful for that.

I was only able to live in Seattle for 5 years, but 4 1/2 of those years were awesome because I found the right people.

Good luck!

Maybe some self reflecting might also make you realize that possibly, people canโ€™t stand you and theyโ€™re really assholes for not telling you so?

Well, they're prpbably flakey enought to whine about the mild winters, and the ice that forms at night because this place is too goddamn warm to let snow just say snow, and the 8 half-days of light rain in 8 months, after half a year of no rain.

If you whine too, then hang with these flakes this winter.
It's about the only flakes you'll see when everyone is closing schools and businesses for "snow".

I predict a 90 percent chance of scattered whining.
