What's with the new trend of taking a quotation and putting the text in an image next to a photo of the person? I feel like this just started last week.

@eldepeche: It makes more sense than putting the text next to a photo of Dumbo the Elephant or Alexis de Tocqueville (unless it happens to be an Alexis de Tocqueville quote).

@Louis C.K.: Well said!

Love Louis C.K.

@eldepeche It's a Tumblr thing.

@eldepeche: I am noticing this as well. I assumed initially that all of my friends were engaging in a fit of low-end photoshop and then demonstrating their image editing skills via Facebook/Blog/etc. However, it has come to my attention that this actually an elaborate move to slow down the internets by clogging the tubes (or tubs, as I originally typed) with jpg extra bits instead of simple text. This is being instigated by Netflix in an attempt to take down Amazon.

It is also Friday, and I would normally close my browser and not hit submit (sorry blogtownies, but I never submit most of my brilliant comments), but I'm going to live dangerously today!

This image (with the text) is like 2 or 3 months old. Not sure about a "new" trend.

Please wait...
