The schedule for Design Week Portland can be a little overwhelming. There is so much going on, so little time. One of the more promising ones is GRAFT, a Portland AIGA affair addressing the "impact of urban art." The two-part event will begin with the Oregon premiere of short documentary film Graffiti Fine Art, directed by Jared Levy, followed by a panel discussion of graffiti's influence on design—that's $15 for AIGA members, $20 for nons. But if that's too rich for your taste, later on is the free opening of Graffiti Type Showcase, a group show of 26 designers assigned one of the 26 letters in the alphabet to reinterpret "inspired by the innovation and energy of graffiti." (One of which is Mercury Art Director Justin "Scrappers" Morrison.) It all goes down on Wednesday, Oct 10 at the Ziba Auditorium (810 NW Marshall), with film at 6:30 pm, and free showcase beginning at 8:30. Peep the trailer for the film below:
