The (even shorter) version: Like every Wes Anderson trailer, the preview for The Grand Budapest Hotel looks preposterously twee and manufactured. But I suspect that, as is the case with just about every Wes Anderson film, the movie in its entirety will end up being one of the best of the year.

Also, since Dirk and I just did this over iChat, let's settle this. Here's Dirk's ranking of Anderson's films, from best to worst:

1. Rushmore
2. The Royal Tenenbaums
3. Moonrise Kingdom
4. Bottle Rocket
5. The Life Aquatic
6. The Darjeeling Limited (only saw it once, need to revisit)

N.B.: Dirk does not include The Fantastic Mr. Fox as a Wes Anderson film, for reasons he is either mentally incapable of justifying or stubbornly unwilling to expound upon.

And here's my ranking of Anderson's films, from best to worst:

1. The Royal Tenenbaums
2. Bottle Rocket
3. The Fantastic Mr. Fox
4. The Life Aquatic
5. Moonrise Kingdom (have hunch this one will only get better and better)
6. Rushmore
7. The Darjeeling Limited (I still like this film quite a bit—and apparently, more than anybody else)

Should you be so inclined, feel free to tell Dirk how wrong he is.
