WAY TO RUIN MY DAY, MERCURY.
2
I'm pretty okay with this.
The clubs of Portland are now dolphin vocal free.
3
The Mercury = Portland's Yoko!
4
Ho-hum. Should have been called Explode Into Boredom.
5
What, did their reverb unit break or something?
7
@jake: Well, NME named 'em one of the top ten bands of SXSW last year.

And I would posit that hip 20 (and 30) something house party goers does encompass an awful lot of the city...
8
i love everything else in life but this band. claudia owes me money.
9
is the quality of music now all the sudden decided by the fact that 9 out of 10 people in the city know that they exist?

wow. been living in the dark! thanks!
10
This, too, shall pass.
11
That's too bad, I liked that band.

Not normally the sorta style of music I listen to, but they did what they did exceedingly well, and I can totally see why a lotta people around Portland liked 'em.
12
@jake not to mention they were Willamette Week's "Best New Band of 2009."
http://wweek.com/editorial/3526/12508/
So clearly they have a pretty good following in Portland.

@ Jake re: 1/3 of pop. east of 82nd,

I like to think I'm as sensitive and caring as the next person, but fuck those people.
15
Jeezus jake, relax and get a life. Or a legit platform for your so-called authority. It's NOT funny, actually.
16
I my house this band was bigger than the beatles but not as big a jesus christ.

BTW: neither beatles albums or bibles are allowed in my house.

@TweenDream Whoa, maybe they aren't playing an all ages shows because of aggro dicks like you?
19
They offered a sound that stood out from the rest of Portland's music scene... unique, minimal, and unpretentious. You haters can go ahead and hate ... go throw on a Decemberists record and wax your mustache ... you'll feel better.

MonkeyBeat stole my comment. Terrible Band. Almost considered skipping the Raincoats just to avoid their harsh poseur vibes.

Please wait...
