Jealous Butcher just can't wait until December 25 to give you their Christmas present. That's why the local label—headed by one Rob Jones—is throwing a little listening party just for you, at Valentine's (232 SW Ankeny) on Wednesday, December 21.

The event's the release party for JB's two newest vinyl releases: Laura Gibson's new 7-inch single "La Grande" b/w "In the Pines"—the A-side a taster from her upcoming full-length La Grande, which comes out in 2012. AND it's also the celebration for the vinyl reissue of Fruit Bats' 2001 album Echolocation.

Both Fruit Bat mainman Eric D. Johnson and Gibson will play quick, 10-15 minute sets at the party, and Duover—featuring Fruit Bats guitarist Nathan Jr. plus Rebecca Rasmussen—will play an opening set, and here's hoping they play some tunes from the excellent Christmas album they released last year. (If they don't, I might throw eggnog at them.) Jones adds, "Keeping the evening interesting these folks will be bringing along some of their favorite records to spin and we'll have some festive holiday concoctions to help keep you warm." It's also a chance to pick up vinyl copies of Jealous Butcher releases, which makes for the ideal last-minute gift. See you there.

End Hits: To be fair, we just like throwing eggnog.
