We got out of the habit of posting whenever our favorite Portland bands did a Daytrotter session once the music site required membership to listen to their tracks, but this one's worth knowing about: Portland's own Drew Grow and the Pastors' Wives stepped into the Rock Island, Illinois, studio for a four-song session that includes some great-sounding new tunes ("Abandon" and "Groundwire") plus some highlights from 2010's self-titled full-length ("Friendly Fire" and "It All Comes Right"). "Abandon" is worth signing up for a free trial alone, and the rest of the session is equally excellent: the stripped-down take of "Friendly Fire" is bound to raise hairs. Listen here.

"Abandon" and "Groundwire" are destined to appear on Drew Grow and the Pastors' Wives upcoming record, which they're currently raising Kickstarter funds for—they're going down to Sacramento's lengendary Hangar recording studio with producer Janet Weiss.
