In addition to
the hour-long video of Andrew WK speaking at the My Little Pony Convention, Stereogum offered up another bit of inspiration this morning: in the form of
AU's new video, for "Solid Gold." Directed by Roberto Ortu, the video visually interprets the kinetic energy of AU's music with a slight surrealist tilt, finding that roomy, warm place between memory and dream. I can't really tell you the story of the video, although I think it's about brotherhood, or possibly a multiple identity—it's an intriguing clip, and the only gripe I have is that it truncates the original version of the song by about a minute or so. (The full-length version is on AU's current album
Both Lights. AU's singer/keyboardist Luke Wyland is doing a solo residency at the Beauty Shop in Fairfield, Iowa, this month, then AU will hit the road with Zammuto, doing a hometown show at the Doug Fir on November 5.
