In addition to clothing alterations, this tiny store provides an eclectic selection of used clothing. From '80s checkered hoop earrings to velvet pants, Kitsch & Stitch has the usual vintage store selection. But in the true spirit of resale items, their prices are still nominal, un-mobbed by the hipster foot soldiers who drive up prices and get to all the cool animal print sweaters first. The real goldmine here is the lingerie section. Girdles and brassieres hang next to slips and nighties in rare hues like burgundy and turquoise. And when I visited, the owner described how she had stayed up late marking down all the boudoir booty to a dollar. That's right, for one piddly buck, this joint was practically throwing underwear out the window. St. Johns' business community has a surprisingly dense percentage of resale clothing stores, but Kitsch & Stitch is by far the best heist. MS
