I applaud you on this ballsy story. I agree with you 100%.

Sports are not only cool and fun to watch, but they put money into the local economy and community. The Blazers winning in 77 is what put this town on the map and it's beneficial aftershocks are being felt today in innumerable ways. Davis' anti-soccer/sports bias and probably those who think like him, remind me of all the pouty goth nerds that I knew in High School that had no athletic ability. (I have to be honest, I was in that "sports aren't cool" number until I became an Adult and stopped denying that I actually ENJOY watching Sports.) If this amount of money had been given as a grant to fund local (see mediocre) art, I doubt Davis the writer wouldn't have been so critical. UP THE TIMBERS!
