"A poll or head tax is 'a fixed tax assessed on each eligible person.'"

How is that not a description of the arts tax?

GREAT JOB, PORTLAND. GREAT FUCKING JOB. NOW WE HAVE A LUDICROUSLY REGRESSIVE STOPGAP MEASURE TO FUND ARTS (AND SOME ARTS IN SOME SCHOOLS, TOO, I GUESS) BUT CAN'T GET A SALES TAX OR INCREASE PROPERTY TAXES OR LOCAL SIN TAXES TO FUND ANYTHING ELSE. REALLY BANGUP JOB, EVERYONE.

"in which he represented himself. " Ugh, what a fucking douchebag ruining an important lawsuit. Thanks, Portland for an unconstitutional tax measure.
4
Just put those on the ballot, Drunk & Write. Portland votes yes on every tax and levy put before them. Nothing Portlanders love more than paying more and more money for diminishing services.

Graham:

This doesn't mean folks who haven't paid the tax will be prohibited from arguing the constitutionality when the city gets around to filing lawsuits to collect (unless there's some collection mechanism I'm unaware of).

Has the City been able to provide any sort of documentation on the administrative expenses of this thing and whether they've exceeded the hard cap for start up costs?

Good luck finding out Babygorilla. That info would probably only come out through the lawsuit. Still waiting to hear how they plan to track down people who haven't paid...
7
BLABBY, THAT RESPONSE WAS FACTUALLY INCORRECT AND INTELLECTUALLY BANKRUPT. TRY AGAIN.
8
Well, why don't we just vote the damn thing out now?
I would bet people would vote it down this time around.

Arts are great, but if Portland needs anything, it's apparently more goddamn science education.

Please wait...
