PLEASE go to https://fiber.google.com/ and enter your address, then check the box that says you are interested and "keep me up to date". This is how they determine the level of interest for a city/area. Even if you don't want to Google to be your ISP the presence of Google will force Comcast / CenturyLink to improve their networks in order to compete.
People really need to get vocal about this. When the City published it's "Broadband Strategic Plan", they relied on input from Comcast and CenturyLink regarding the level of broadband competition in Portland. Their verdict?
