It looks like such a sentiment ranks up there with "I'm actively pushing for faith healing" and "I think we need more bootstraps for the homeless" amongst people who understand how this sort of thing works. Sarah Iannarone expressed similar optimism for a tactic that, according to economists, hurts far more than it helps. Yet the Mercury endorsed both candidates.
