Apologies if I'm just ignorant, but has the city or county government done anything that has an immediate, decisive effect on reducing police violence against non-whites? Or indeed, reduce police violence at all?
It's not like the protestors' demands are vague or irrational. I figure if the government did, oh, SOMEthing that would at least help mollify folks. Apart from a minor budget cut, some muttering about committees and punting some things to a vote in November -- has there been any action?
Again, forgive if the city council has enacted changes that help curb the problem -- I just haven't seen anything about it.
