The problem isn't only that police have no training to deal with mental illness, it's that they too often shoot first and ask questions later, regardless of the nature of the problem they find, and have no empathy for anyone but themselves They seem to regard themselves as untouchable, instead of accepting that they have a dangerous job which requires sometimes risking their well being to do the right thing serving those in need.
