30 calls per day= 150 calls per week. There are not even 200 homes in foreclosure in Multnomah County? You mean 100% of all of the people that are facing foreclosure are calling ACORN? Including people that are in foreclosure due to Divorce, Sickness and Death? How many of these 30 calls per day are coming from Investors that bought to much and builders that built to much?
Lots of people who "can no longer afford to pay their mortgage" aren't in foreclosure yet. And if I were in foreclosure or close to it and thought ACORN could help me, I might well call more than once a day--what do I do with this form? Can you help me figure out where I could go if they evict me? etc.
You can't figure out how serious a problem like a sudden growth in foreclosures is just from the number of people who reach the end of the line--there are a lot of folks in the pipeline too.
Next up are businesses. Where I work alone, three restaurants have closed up shop within a 2 block radius in the past 3 months. There is a for lease sign on pretty much every block downtown. And yet construction moves on.
Go to Multnomah Foreclosures http://multnomahforeclosures.com and look at the list yourself.
