Sam Adams' Job as Police Commissioner Has Finally Begun

Higher taxes = more government = bigger police state = more of the same

We have regulatory fascism in every way imaginable here in Oregon.

The only growth industry is government... the PERS system is bankrupting the state and the state and municipal governments keep growing...

@PeterDangles
Agree about our government 'growth'. Why do folks not listen to all the government budgetary groups that continually report that government services are in just as much a bubble as the housing market was? Even by their own internal and optimistic estimates, Medicare/cade will be bankrupt by 2020, and social security by 2030 (look it up on wikipedia - sources are cited).

When all these unfunded programs bills come due - wait for us to have similar crises just like Greece went through. Maybe not as bad, but you'd better plan for all those programs to only give you pennies on the dollars you're putting into them now.

THIS is what a bubble looks like when it's forming. Debt growing by leaps and bounds with no end of spending in sight. Neither the Republicans nor Democrats are fiscally responsible in the least. None of them have the guts to stand up and say 'No' anymore. They just kick the budget can down the road.

Sorry that got off-topic.

ON-TOPIC: I don't have any faith in Adam's new police+state as he's set himself up for being not only the mayor, but chief of police. Anyone else think that sounds frightening? Government + enforcement policy set by the same guy??? This is how "really bad" things have happened in history and why the division of powers of a government are a good idea.
He's out there promoting gun laws that'll only effect 1 in 1000 people while we have regular tagging, gang fights, and theft rising all over my neighborhood...

Jeez PeterDangles and nandar, do you ever get tired of being so unbelievably boring. And stating the obvious? Wow, you're the first people to ever think of, much less communicate, these brilliant observations and ideas. SNORE.

This "public transparency" meetings that PPB boasts is full of shit! They give the most menial notification of upcoming meetings in the hopes of not having a fully participated public presence. Thank God that CopWatch is on the job constantly, but even they get the info so last minute to where, by the time they can email everybody, it's like less than 24 hours before a person can be ready to participate.

Please wait...

and remember to be decent to everyone
all of the time.
