More Proof That the Big I-5 Bridge Is a Money Pit

I won't disagree that the current management structure is ineffective - but do you not understand this is the West Coast thoroughfare from border to border and needs to be replaced?

Sara, what's with the hyphen in "Kitz-haber" ?

I-5 is very important for commerce and general traffic, it is what I-5 does.

D, "this is the West Coast thoroughfare from border to border"... what do you mean? For those who want to get up and down the West Coast, there's the I-205 bridge, which actually carries more traffic than the I-5 crossing.

Why does it need to be replaced? Replacing it will move congestion further south, to the Alberta area, and the I-84 interchange. There are 30 Oregon bridges on I-5 in worse shape structurally.

So, no, I don't understand.

What does the I-5 bridge have to do with other bridges in Oregon other than it's function? The 100+ bridges in need of repair are a different debate all together. This is about congestion and growth. Sure, 205 is a great option for crossing, which brings back the environmental impact case. How many more tons of carbon does it take to go the 205 loop? Or sitting in traffic not moving on I5? How much money is lost every day because of these inefficiencies? People need to get back to the original issues. And no, a 10 lane zip line is not an option. Damn hippies.

Please wait...
