Cops Coach Bar Owners to Spot Telltale Threads

"It's just this historic battle, kind of like between Democrats and Republicans."

Well that's among the most idiotic things I've ever heard.

Wow. Racist profiling 101. This "presentation" is full of soo many flaws, loop-holes, and out-right bigoted misconceptions, it would take some lenghty time to try and address them all here.

But basically, what they're saying is this:

ALL black people are gang members
ALL fights that break out in clubs are b/t rival gang members.
ALL people who wear sports gear but aren't actual fans are gang members (and just how in the fuck would you know they weren't fans, huh?)
ALL gun crimes are due to gang activity

You see, i tend to think that the type of people who typically patronize clubs like Barracuda and many others dt are just douchebags and skanks anyways. MOST of the crime committed in dt on the weekends are by DRUNKEN DOUCHEBAGS.

Most of the fights in clubs are b/t DRUNKEN DOUCHEBAGS, etc.

I'm sure the two black cops giving the presentation were basically saying just that, DamosA.
4
Yeah, your'e right. It's *racial*. For instance, when I see a white guy wearing a blue uniform with a badge and a pistol on his hip, I shouldn't assume he's a cop. He may be a member of a gay 70's disco revival band.

Get real. These people are wearing *uniforms*. If you don't want to profiled as a gang member, then don't dress like one, especially if you're going to hang out in places where they do.
5
In my neighborhood, almost everyone under 40 dresses like some variation of this stuff. "Anything orange really" -- gimme a break. The way bar managers and bouncers are going to implement this stuff, it is absolutely an endorsement of profiling.
6
"Anything Orange" seems like a pretty poor way to identify your gang in a state where one of the two major college teams colors are orange and black...
7
You'll be fine, DamosA. You look like Pete Wentz.
8
Though I believe that "Anything Orange" is extreme. If you really take notice. There's a huge difference between the OSU fans and that of a Hoover. The only thing I would say is that because of OSU, it helps the Hoovers blend in, and not get noticed.
9
If you are to read her report, the author Sarah, was the one who said "anything orange." Other quotes were taken out of context as well and misquoted. What Sarah also didn't report was that the photos also contained gangsters who were White, Hispanic, and female.

Yeah, you can bet those are the ONLY two black cops in town too.

Why don't YOU get real. Based on the destriptions on how a supposed "gang member" dresses, anyone wearing sports logos, caps, and bright colors qualifies! Let's be honest here, this is racist profiling plain and simple.

Anyone = Racist?

They are trying to do the right thing and I understand that but unfortunately they are ignorant. Which is not a bad thing but it just means that they dont really have enough information to make the right call on whats a gangmember and whats not. So what they do is outlaw some relevant and a lot of irrelevant aspects of wardrobe when trying to enforce dresscode at the door. The problem is you really only know how to spot gangmembers when you are a member, close affiliate, or someone who really grew up in the area where they are infested. Most people on the outside have to take a bunch of silly precautions becuz they dont know all the signs to look for so they outlaw damn near everything and in essence they turn down a lot of innocent partygoers and people who just wanna have fun and some folks from outta town who may not even know the dresscodes. I know what they are tryna do but its just a thin line between safety and racial profiling so its a tough issue. And nowadays, some gang members dont even dress like gangmembers but instead they stay undercover. On another note, you got people who arent gangmembers that could possibly emulate the style and not even being concious of it. Its far fetched, but its possible. they could be from outta town, a small town, or whatever. Its also a tough issue becuz there is loads of money to be made off hip hop as well and im sure its tough for club owners to have to ban something that is so financially lucrative to their business. They wanna play our music in the club, but they think its too risky to let us in to come listen to it. There is no easy way to combat the issue without supposed racial profiling. Violence is Violence and you cant always see it coming and you cant alwayz prevent it. If anything, you need someone that is supremely knowledgable about the intricate details of gang lifestyle at the door of your club if you want to have the best chances of combating the issue.

DamosA, your stupidity and lack of brain capacity never ceases to amaze me. keep your opinions up your ass, because that's what they are. you're making statements that were never even in the article. YOU took all those statements that way when in reality that's not what was said.
15
Well only a racist would have such a rude knee-jerk reaction to what i said. You pretty-much proved my point. Typical Portland!
16
are you mentally unstable perhaps ? you can't defend yourself or you bass-ackwards comments so you come back with THAT ? oh yes, we all must be racist, typical portland ! i'm half black you ignorant asshole, so wouldn't i in fact have been "racist" to myself ?! find something better to do with your time, like jump off a bridge !
17
Gosh, what a rude son-of-s-gun you are! And now i should "jump off a bridge" for stating a fact? Lovely. And you say you're half-Black; well that only means that your other half must be the racist part, huh? How about if YOU take a long hard look in the mirror and try to re-ajust some of your obvious issues, instead of trying to project them on me, brother?

And learn some damned manners.
18
I know more than two black cops in portland. and the simple fact is as an african american male between the ages of 5 and 50 you cannot dress in a particular manor while listening to rap and not be considered a threat due to the actions of the few. Is it wrong yes but much like the sky being blue and Randy Quaid being crazy them's the facts of life. Until people stop being assholes and ruining mark echo clothes for the rest of us adapt or die
19
I'd really like to meet Damos in real life.
20
Beav is right: the fact that your tastes in clothing, music, etc., align with others' prejudices is *your fault.*

Please wait...
