The Dismal State of Arts Funding in Portland's Schools

Maybe if we stopped electing business people we could get some budgeting shit done. It's a sad day for Portland when you gotta cut schools funding when you compare Portland Public Schools with say, Mississippi.
2
Don't forget that Portland steals school money through urban renewal. Currently about $100 million per year of property tax money is diverted from basic services such as schools, social services and fire departments to give to urban renewal, mainly for millionaire condos.

Both posters are spot on! It also pisses me off when we keep getting asked during elections to raise property taxes for every damn proposal. Stop misappropriating our funds already!

Here's what I want to know.
How much tax is Intel paying?
How much tax is Comcast paying?
How much tax is Nike paying?

Portland has lured them here with promises of low taxes.
Tax the corporations. And then we'll see where all that missing money went.

SERIOUSLY.

Follow the money.
