A Q&A with Hunger Striker Cameron Whitten

Wow, nothing like the threat of potential suicide to get things done at City Hall!
Maybe in the future all kinds of interest groups will adopt the same tactics, eh?
I am reminded of that old quote that read something like 'a immature man is willing to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he is willing to live humbly for one'
Cameron, take care of yourself, get off your ass and go to school or get a job.

Meanwhile Frankie, what have YOU done lately that's been positive or worth a damn? Besides bitch and whine about OWS... online.

I was just out there earlier today. Cameron was there, along with several other folks, all camping in solidarity. Cameron said that on any given night around 12-15 folks will camp out in front of City Hall. Plus, the message was pretty clear. Good.

I adore Cameron Whitten, he's brave, he's intelligent and he actually tries to go out of his way to change things that he believes are unjust.
I wish our society had more individuals like him, he's crazy and beautifully passionate, truly one of a kind.

Keep your head up, Cameron!

Maybe one day our city council and the mayor will get their heads out of those assholes of theirs and actually stop fining the R2D2. Ugh, our city council and mayor are so useless.

I'm not really sure that I understand this. It's a "hunger strike" but clearly he's getting nutrition. He says he's figured out a way to do this safely, so what exactly is the point? Maybe I don't understand hunger strikes, but I thought the point was that there is a threat that the striker(s) will actually starve to death. To me, this just looks like theatrics. It's as if those who have self-immolated in protest were actually wearing flame-proof stunt suits the whole time, and when the flames went out, they just stood up and went home. Such a protest would be much less effective. He wants to grab public attention, but people go on diets all the time. He's going to have to step it up if he wants to make this a real event.

Please wait...
