Have you seen this agency's budget and agenda?
From the site -
* Eliminating discrimination and bigotry,
* Strengthening inter-group relationships, and
* Fostering greater understanding, inclusion and justice for those who live, work, study, worship, travel and play in Portland.

Good luck with those goals city workers. Now keep slashing.

Friendships are being strained as people take sides centered around Mayor Adams lies and elaborate cover-up to get elected. Those friendships are the fabric of our strong communities. In the hard economic times ahead of us we will need a leader people can rally around and strong communities to keep us sane.

We are asking you to call and email Commissioner Fritz today and ask her introduce a non-binding 'Vote of Confidence' for Mayor Adams on the upcoming 6:00PM Regular Agenda. This will allow people to speak directly to the Commissioners about the pain his lies are causing us.

The vote will communicate to citizens where their elected representatives stand on his ethical conduct. This is something that the Attorney General is not investigating, as he can only enforce Oregon state law. More so, the AG's report is months from completion. Can we afford to wait that long for our City Council to act?

It is the right of the citizens to express their views directly to those they elected. It is also the job of each City Commissioner to listen to the people that they work for.

Commissioner Fritz's office phone number is 503-823-3008. Her city email is: amanda@ci.portland.or.us

Please call today and ask her to take the first step in healing our city,

Hey Amanda, what about the rights of kids? I am happy that you are supportive of civil rights, obviously a noble cause, don't forget about those that cannot vote, YET. You are the mother of a teen, where is your heart for other peoples kids? Have your political ambitions got in the way of your basic motherly instincts? We needed someone to stand up for what is right and you have let us down. May this be your final term in any sort of public office if you do not ask Sam Adams to resign now!

This recall effort is a waste of time, effort and money. The people fronting it are wanna-be media whores who are using this issue to make a name for themselves and are tools of Sam's political opponents who have been waiting for years to have a reason to get back our Mayor. Perhaps Mr. Wurster could get over himself and go volunteer at a community center if he wants to really help our glorious city because all he is doing now is dividing the city and perpetuating homophobic stereotypes.

Dear GetARealJob,

Sam Adams created this mess. No one forced him to grope a 17 year old in the City Hall bathroom and then lie about it. If you do not like the division this is causing please place the blame on the guilty party. Citizens have a right to be angry and demand a recall when a public offical acts in this manner. The only thing that is "homophobic" about this is how many people are NOT angered because the victim was a gay youth. Sorry they deserve our protection as well regaurdless of your luuurve for Mayor Adams. Every youth, gay or straight, deserves the right to reach adulthood without being seduced by an adult over twice their age. Stop trying to lable everyone who does not agree with your unconditional support of the Mayor as a "homophobe," its getting tiresome.

My mayor did nothing wrong in his mayoral duties. If you homophobes (and yes that is what this is about) can't stand being lied to about someone's personal life, then don't ask the question. Beau Breedlove wasn't "selected" -- as he himself has said numerous times, he willingly took part in this thing that is NOBODY'S DAMN BUSINESS and has NOTHING TO DO WITH RUNNING OUR CITY. Tiresome, this is, indeed.

First off, I didn't call you or Mr. Wurster "homophobes". Did you see that anywhere in my post, me calling anyone a homophobe? If you actually read my post instead of reacting, which coincidentally, is that same as your reaction to the Mayor Adams situation, a knee-jerk (emphasis on jerk) reaction, you would see that you and your ilk are "perpetuating homophobic stereotypes". Sounds like you are suffering from some guilt there. Perhaps its from some repressed feeling you are having.

Where were you when the media promotes Hannah Montana as a pre-teen idol? Lindsay Lohan is another example. You and your ilk are simply huffing and puffing because you have a beef with Mayor Adams and you're are being opportunistic media whores. Period
8
"relocatesam" - Have you paid attention to anything Beau Breedlove has said? He has repeatedly said he was never a victim and he and Sam remain friends. If you care so much about youth, try listening to them! I would be "angered" if I felt that anything had happened without Breedlove's consent (and yes, I think a 17 year old can also consent. Nothing magical happens at the stoke of midnight on your 18th birthday.)

And for the record, though I'm 31 now I would have been delighted to be seduced by an attractive older person at 17 when I was a "poor helpless girl." The idea that teenagers are all helpless victims who must be protected from sex is ridiculous. While some laws should be in place to protect those who are young, statutory rape laws have gotten totally out of hand, and now are just as likely to victimize teenagers in legitimate relationships and their lovers as they are to do any good whatsoever.

As to the alleged division in our city? Most people I talk to about this want Sam Adams to stay and are tired of the Willamette Week trying to drum up more controversy. It's important to remember, as well, that had the media stayed out of Sam Adams' sex life 3 years ago, none of this would have happened. Because prior to that there were no victims at all.

What's getting tiresome is the waste that is the recall groups collective patheticness. The creator of the site won't even own up to who he/she/they are. So we get to speculate. I think it's either Bill Sizemore or Lars Larson.

Jenhowell77,

I am happy for your sake that adults respected your boundaries when you were a 17 year old. Not every teen is so quite so fortunate, that’s why there are laws in place. If you feel the age of consent is too high you are free to work to change these laws. It takes victims of sexual coercion and abuse many years to come to terms with what they have suffered. It does not surprise me that Beau Breedlove supports the Mayor, Sam Adams is very charismatic and has a lot of charm, this is not unusual for predators. I would be curious to find out what a 35 year old Breedlove has to say but alas he is still not much more then a scared kid at his point.

Again not unusual for a victim to come to a perps defense. No one is disputing that Roman Polanski's victim was raped at 14 by the director. She now wants any and all charges dropped so he can travel to the U.S as he chooses. What about the other children Polanski might abuse? This is why victims do not get to choose whether or not perps are prosecuted or lose jobs ect. As a society we deem this people a hazard and justice acts accordingly, EVEN IF THE VICTIM CHANGES THEIR MIND OR DOES NOT WANT TO PROSOCUTE IN THE FIRST PLACE. There are others who may need to be protected from these sorts of individuals.

I myself find Mayor Adams a likable person when you take this situation out of the equation. Unfortunately, this situation is not separate from him and he must be held accountable just as you or I would if we made such poor decions on the job. As for a criminal indictment, your right, the AG will have to determine that.

I would like to reiterate that all youths gay, straight, male or female deserve are protection and respect for their personal boundaries. It may not be hip but no one will ever convince me that there should be a double standard when it comes to gay youth. Just because a kid is gay does not give any adult the right to seduce them or use them for sex. It’s not ok with me and never will be.

I am really saddened to be a part of a community that does not want better for its youth.

Adams is a laughing stock, that's the problem, he lost credibility.

This is actually the end of the line for his political career, everybody is aware of that.

But he's not a bad mayor I guess, Tom Potter was much worse.

How come there are no city of Portland employee layoff's when everybody else is getting cut back or laid off?

Please wait...
