It was a great turn-out last night for Portland City Council's PUBLIC FORUM regarding the proposed prohibition on high-content booze in [parts of] dt last night. And i was glad to see acouple of represenatives from the homeless community there, as well as some union & wine distributors.
I saw that Shirley Rackner's husband was there too, attempting to scare the panel with his fevered talk of ANARCHY! It's like ANARCHY in dt, OMG! I thought it was excetionally cheap of Mr. Rackner to invoke his 15 yr. old grand daughter (without her consent, i'll bet), in a lame attempt to garner a "sympathy" vote.
FAIL!
Well i'm pretty sure that the NW Fred Meyers does NOT sell to anyone who's obviously wasted! I don't think ANY shops or stores dt or elsewhere sell to people who're clearly drunk.
It's fine. It won't change anything except that us homeless people (because we're all drunks, obviously) will just go into your ritzy high-class grocery stores stinking up the place and pissing on the windows and then stumble onto the Max (while not paying fare of course) and arriving, fully-cocked, back in Old Town/Chinatown where we will sell half our beers for a higher price, maybe get in a fight over it, and then throw our empties on the street.
(This is all sarcasm, by the way.)
Yeah, no, but seriously.

I'd be curious to know what the representatives of the homeless community thought of these rules.
