The CRC is already spending over $1,000,000 per day. What does a few more dollars mean. Oh wait, maybe that money could be spent somewhere else and put to better use. Like for people who have mental health needs.

But seriously, what makes otherwise reasonable leaders look at money-suck this wildly oversized and think: "good idea"? Who's got their ear? Who's pulling their strings? Construction interests, real estate interests? Or is their some genetic strain found in some politicians that makes them get all fluttery about building big, expensive things?
