See yesterday's comment thread re: your continuing confusion.

How can grown men and women believe in god?!?!?!?!

I'm more of an "E Pluribus Unum" guy myself...

But... on reflection, hell IS other people, so... I guess "fuck that noise."

L'enfer, est les autres.

Oui.

This year I really had some hope that they'd change the official motto to "The cynics are right nine times out of ten."
6
Ugh, no! Get your religion (read:brainwashing) off of what's supposed to be our republic!

Thank the Lord that the Founders were smart enough to make that our motto in 1954. Fuck E Pluribus Unum that those hippies came up with in 1776. Why have an agreeable, historic, and pluralistic motto that includes everyone when we can exclude the fuck out of a lot of Americans based on a legal relationship with people's imaginary friend?

Reymont, how long do you think you could go through life without the aid of "welfare projects" like city streets? How would you get to work (assuming that you do actually work)?

How long could you manage to live without using the "welfare project" that is the public sewer system? I suppose you could use a septic tank, but the truck that takes your waste away would be driving on a public street.

How long could you go without using goods that were delivered to your local market by trucks driving on those "welfare projects" known as the Interstate Highway System and city streets? How long could the market you bought your goods at stay in business without getting deliveries of products brought there by trucks driving on those "welfare projects" known as the Interstate Highway System and city streets? How could their employees get to work? And how could those employees take a shit in the staff bathroom without that "welfare system" known as the sewer system? Try to imagine downtown Portland or the downtown area of any American city without a public infrastructure. Businesses require the use of the public commons in order to stay in business.

I hope this has helped you clear up your obvious confusion.

@dmitrir - Um, way to throw up a straw man argument. There's nothing in what I posted, or anything by any of the other commenters who agreed with me posted, that suggests we don't appreciate streets.

That's just a complete failure on your part - just more seriously bad logic. You really need to start thinking things through before arriving at these idiotic conclusions. Seems like every time you post something, lately, you reveal a total lack of understanding. Try a little harder to make sure you understand what everyone else is talking about before you go off on another unrelated tangent.

I followed dmitrir's argument well enough. It would have been more effective diced down, but that doesn't make it a tangent.

When we can't put our trust in our elected officials we have to put it in God.

Please wait...
