J Parasite
As part of Red76's ongoing Ghosttown is-it-art extravaganza, tonight finds photographer Liz Haley at the helm of DJ Parasite. The Parasite concept is that the chosen DJ shows up at the bar, programs the jukebox with personally significant songs, and passes out flyers detailing what the songs mean to them. Then everybody gets drunk with the new knowledge of a stranger's life and musical taste, promoting honest communication citywide! Hal's, 1308 SE Morrison, Tues, 8:30 pm

Next week the federal government (boo) begins prosecution of SHAC7 , a group of animal rights activists whose activities now fall under the Bush administration's "terrorist" umbrella. A benefit auction has been organized to offset their legal fees, including rad prizes from Glen E. Friedman, Dan Pirrao (Bizarro Comics), Veloshop, Food Fight Vegan Grocery, and RICHARD PRYOR. Yep, you read that right. Filthy prizes from the great beyond. Merrimac Studio, 1216 SE Division, Fri 8-10 pm

Victoria Haven
Fans of abstraction and ink drawings take note: Victoria Haven's new show at PDX is a knockout of delicate, precisely colored architectural units, ribbons, and mazes whose minimal trappings belie their structural and chromatic sophistication. PDX, 925 NW Flanders, 222-0063, through Jan 28
