Angry Housewives

A bunch of pissed-off housewives form a punk rock band as an act of rebellion. Hilarity ensues. World Trade Center Auditorium, 121 SW Salmon, 239-5919, Thurs-Sat 8 pm, Sun 1 pm, through Jan 18, $22-$28

House of Cunt member Amber Martin's one woman show is a song-and-dance riddled multi-character parade of burnt out has-beens from the entertainment industry. Smith sings and hums bizarre original numbers as well as classic covers like Zeppelin's "Communication Breakdown," and along the way exhibits a stage presence of such power that even her costume changes are interesting. It's not the characters or the writing that make this show stand out, but Martin herself. Her ideas border on the clichè and unimaginative, but her control of the stage overwhelms them. It would be enjoyable to watch this woman give a dog worm medicine. MWM Stark Raving, at the Coho Theatre, 2257 NW Raleigh, 232-7072, Fri-Sat 10:30 pm, through Jan 11, $12

Last chance to see this hodgepodge of technical wizardry and acrobatic proficiency. People will dangle from colorful curtains, balls will be juggled, and fancy multimedia tricks will abound. Do Jump! at the Echo Theatre, 1515 SE 37th, 224-8499, Fri-Sat 7:30 pm, Sun 3 pm, through Dec 29, $15-22
