Keaton Otis Vigil
On May 12, 2010, Keaton Otis was pulled over and later killed by Portland Police for looking and driving “like a gangster.” Otis’ father held monthly vigils in his honor until he died as well. Since 2013, the community has come together to sustain the vigils on the 12th of each month.

Since 1999 PSU has hosted a student-led Take Back the Night event in solidarity and support with sexual assault survivors. This year’s keynote speaker is Feminista Jones, a Black feminist writer, mental health social worker, and sex-positive activist. Ollin Social Justice Film Series: El Norte
Latino Network’s three-part social justice screening series is inspired by the current political state. A staple film for understanding the US/Mexico border-crossing experience, El Norte serves as a mirror to the barriers faced by refugees across the world. Adelante Mujeres
Supporting Latina women and families in Western Washington County for the past 15 years, Adelante Mujeres believes in arming communities with access to education and economic empowerment. Programs include youth development, small business mentorship, adult education, sustainable agriculture classes, and trauma processing workshops.
Opportunities: Various opportunities open to Spanish and non-Spanish speakers. Volunteers needed for vegetable sorting and packing within CSA program, Forest Grove Farmer’s Market and Recycling Center program, and camp counselors for Chicas Summer Camp.
