Call to Safety
Accessing unconditional support is within armās reach thanks to Call to Safety, the nonprofit formerly known as the Portland Womenās Crisis Line, which has been operating 24/7 since 1973 for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. In addition to their crisis line, Call to Safety provides weekly support groups, follow-up advocacy, and referral services for all survivors.
Opportunities: Crisis line volunteers and additional opportunities such as support group facilitation, fundraising, anti-racist guidance for equity and inclusion, and more. Crisis line training is offered three times per year and interviews begin this month for the session beginning in June.
Typical commitment: Weekly three-hour shifts with a six-month minimum commitment for crisis line volunteers. Other commitments vary.
