This teen-focused workshop is the first in a three-part series led in collaboration with the Village Free School and Portland State’s School of Race, Gender, and Nations. Don’t Shoot Portland hosts a monthly discussion and organizing group for folks looking to get involved in art-based actions. Brown Girl Rise PDX
Brown Girl Rise is a brand-new organization creating space for girls of color in Portland to thrive. Started by six activists, the program will include bimonthly meetings for students in third through fifth grade, and sixth through eighth beginning in June. Students will learn about reproductive health, gardening and cultural foodways, arts and design, social justice movements, plant medicine, and STEM.
Opportunities: Immediate need for volunteers this Saturday, May 13 at their Open House event. Roles include setup, cleanup, signing in attendees, photography, and activity table support. More opportunities to come, so get in touch now.
