But did you have sex in the men's room at City Hall?
2
Is Dan Savage still here?

(Sigh)
3
Dude, Fandago those tickets ahead of time. Isn't that part of your campground rules?
4
Dan, what are your thoughts on Sam's position on Tax Increment Financing?
5
This is an awesome post Dan! You've really helped turn this issue around and now everyone should be AOK with making out at City Hall in the Bathroom with the mayor while the Sustainability Policy Advisor pounds on the door asking what to do next!
6
Now try this one instead, since it's more accurately reflective of what Sam actually did, rather than a simple lie: "I absolutely did not have sex with my boyfriend and anyone who says I did is engaging in a cynical political smear campaign of lies based upon trying to prey upon homophobic stereotypes."
7
"Dan, what are your thoughts on Sam's position on Tax Increment Financing?"

Ha!
8
Is this meant to move along the conversation about who is and who is not fit to run city government? Or are you the levity act in the corner, so that we might be distracted as to the fact we're in some pretty dire times here? I don't see either, frankly, as succeeding.
9
All true.
But 'did you kiss a Seventeen year -old?' is a different matter, by law.
10
Not with a man
Not in the can

I did not sex him here or there
I did not sex him anywhere

I did not sex that young man
I am the Mayor Sam-I-Am

Wow. I had missed Dan Savage's posts yesterday on the kissing affair. I just scrolled down and read them.

Is this the new approach now? Make Breedlove the villian? Savage has taken leave of his senses.

Dan, for the people who aren't prudes and think statutory rape is kind of a ridiculous concept for pubescent teenagers, but are also pretty torn up about this whole affair -- it's not about sex or gay sex or even how old Beau was or wasn't. And it's not about lying either. For like-minded people there are few moral absolutes and lying certainly isn't one of them.

Instead, it's about the way he forcefully attacked a man for his own gain. It was a really slimy thing to do and a lot of us at the time believed it was the other guy doing the sliming and that man was publicly rebuked and taunted for telling the truth.

Ignoring such reasonable criticism and going after the easy straw man of a small group of Christian fundamentalist whackjobs does a disservice to intelligent civic debate and does nothing to convince the people that are actually worth convincing.

Alas, he should keep his position unless we could drag Erik Sten into a quickie mayoral campaign.

Keep it Real!

Dan, I don't care who you had sex with or didn't and when or where. Nor do I give a rip about your personal life. I don't care about Adams' sex life or personal life either, except when there is a conflict of interest. And in this case your strong personal connection to Amy Ruiz - a staff person at the Mayor's office shows a conflict of interest.

I do care when a public official coaches other people to lie for him in order to win an election, repeatedly lies to co-workers on City Council, shirks his responsibilities as a public servant for a week in order to hide, does not step up to duty in the aftermath of a brutal shooting spree downtown, and hires unqualified people that have close connections to his office. I care that our taxpayers are paying for this person's salary and the salary of his unqualified staff.

Get over it, and start reporting like an adult. It's not about the sex.

More straw man argument garbage from a guy trying to save his friends from the unemployment line. Or maybe Savage consciously, or subconsciously, feels this situation is somehow an extension of California's prop 8, which actually was about sex and homosexuals.

Of course, Portland's shameful Sam Adams situation is about a corrupt politician lying to a voting populace in order to attain, and maintain the position of Mayor.

Adams has had many opportunities to be honest with the people of Portland, and has lied every time, settling now on the dubious legal technicality that kissing is not sexual contact, which will play out in court.

Please note, everyone, Savage is simply trying to stir the pot to sell ads here. Every time you refresh the page, they get paid. If you don't like what Savage says, get your news and views elsewhere, because he's toying with you now.
15
ouch. dan, you're having a hard time with this sam adams thing.

time to step outside the ring and take a big yoga breath and stop being so gay about it... only because it seems like that's what you would champion in your own clear-headed state.

even seattlites won't put up with it. and they're a lot funnier than us down here. the responses to your same post on the stranger is really great. i love this life. now i'm convinced that you were as drunk as i am now when you posted this... post.

"Every time you refresh the page, they get paid. "

Speak for yourself. I haven't seen a web advertisement in many years.

My admiration and respect for the work you do at your "day job" is waning quickly, Dan.
19
Slumdog Millionaire was sold out, huh?
20
Oh, Dan is just hanging out in Portland until the "Ricin and Gin and Tonic" drink specials are over at the cuff. Seriously dude....go back to Seattle. You lost a long-term reader over this mess. I really don't care what you have to say now.

Please wait...
