The Wonderful Woman of Oz

Charlie Berens
Helium presents a one-off show with the Emmy-winning journalist, comedian, and creator of the Manitowoc Minute, the YouTube show in which the Wisconsin native utilizes his accent and midwestern charm to run down the top news stories of his hometown. (Mon March 2, 7:15 pm, Helium Comedy Club, $25)

Tim and Eric: Mandatory Attendance Tour
Temple University should put up a plaque to commemorate the first meeting of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. It was at that school that the two began a collaboration that has taken surrealist comedy to greater heights and into much stranger and darker places. Coming up is Beef House, the pair’s take on the three-camera sitcom, and a world tour that... well, there’s no guessing what this stage show will be like. As with everything Tim & Eric have put their names on, your best bet is to just give yourself over to their truly unparalleled comedy and see where it takes you. The I, Anonymous Show
If you love sick secrets, crazy rants, and side-splitting laughs, have we got a show for you! The I, Anonymous Show stars the fabulous Kate Murphy, who selects the wildest, strangest submissions from the beloved Mercury column and reads them live on stage. Joining Kate is a panel of whip-smart comedians—including the oh-so-funny Wendy Wiess, Dylan Carlino, and Lance Edward—who dissect these submissions with hilarious precision. The Aces: Ghost Town
Local sketch comedy geniuses The Aces say "howdy!" once more as they mosey onto the Siren stage for another set of outlandish scenarios designed to hustle, rustle, cajole, and woo big campfire-sized guffaws out of you. Andrew Schulz
The NYC-hailing comic known for his regular appearances on MTV2’s "Guy Code” and “Girl Code,” as well as his podcast "The Brilliant Idiots,” brings his brazen brand of stand-up to the Helium stage for a two-night stand. (Fri-Sat March 6-7, 7:30 pm & 10 pm, Helium Comedy Club, $30-40)

Savages: A Prestige Stand-Up Showcase
Portland comedy scene staples Adam Pasi, Amanda Arnold, and Nariko Ott head up this brand-new comedy showcase every first Saturday at the Kickstand space. The line-up is a secret, but you can always count on some top local and national talent to swing through. (Sat March 7, 9 pm, Kickstand Comedy Space, $10)

Rory Scovel, Nick Youssef
Rory Scovel's 2017 Netflix special Tries Stand-Up for the First Time established the South Carolina-hailing comedian as one of the funniest stand-up comics working today. Catch up with him tonight when he swings through Mississippi Studios along with Los Angeles comedian Nick Youssef as part of the "Comedians Following Tool on Tour" Tour. Live Wire! Radio
Portland's own syndicated variety show returns to the Alberta Rose Stage, adeptly hosted by the ever-amiable Luke Burbank, with special guests, including comedian and “Gilmore Guys” and “Punch Up The Jam” co-host Demi Adejuyigbe, and more. (Thurs March 12, 7:30 pm, Alberta Rose Theatre, $20-35)

Minority Retort
Hosted by Jason Lamb and Julia Ramos, Minority Retort is Portland’s only comedy showcase featuring entirely POC and minorities—and it’s always a hoot. This month the Siren Theater hosts headliner Keith Johnstone, creator of the Darius animated series. Rachel Myles, Parker Jones, Chris Johnson, and Alex Rios lend support. Zach Zimmerman
Mr. Zimmerman's "Gay, But Not Too Fabulous" tour comes through Portland and of course Crush is the spot that's hosting him for this one-night-only hit of hilariousness. (Tues March 17, 6:30 pm, Crush, $12)

Who Charted?
A live taping of the Earwolf/Stitcher Premium podcast, with host Howard Kremer and comedian Megan Beth Koester, counting down the hits in the world of movies and music and sharing a little bit about themselves in the process. (Fri March 20, 9 pm, Doug Fir Lounge, $15-18)

Unloaded Comedy: Laugh Yourself Clean
This installment of the stand-up showcase that focuses on the comedy that can be pulled from the recovery process is the biggest installment, with sets from Julia Ramos, Tory Ward, Sam Miller, Jeremiah Coughlan, Wendy Weiss, and Mike Lindsey. Hosted by Nick Puente. (Fri March 20, 8 pm, Clinton Street Theater, $15)

Allen Strickland Williams
Funhouse hosts a pair of sure-to-be-satisfying stand-up sets from Allen Strickland Williams, fresh off his Comedy Central showcase in fall 2019, with support from Corina Lucas. (Fri-Sat March 20-21, 9:30 pm, Funhouse Lounge, $20-25)

Preacher Lawson
A weekend of stand-up with the Portland-born LA-based comedian who made it to the finals on the 12th season of NBC's America's Got Talent earning him an encore appearance on 2019's America's Got Talent: The Champions, where he finished 5th overall. Jo Koy
One of Chelsea Lately's regulars broke free from the roundtable and ran off a string of successful stand-up specials (Lights Out, Don't Make Him Angry, Comin' In Hot) as well as starting his successful The Koy Pond podcast, and now he hits the Theater of the Clouds as part of his "Just Kidding" World Tour. (Sat March 21, 8 pm, Theater of the Clouds, $50.50 & Up)

Cheesy Sleazy Beautiful: A Feminist March Comedy Cabaret
A new sort of comedy cabaret featuring some of the west coast's best comics in a lounge-y atmosphere that incorporates singing, storytelling, and drag as well as good ol'-fashioned stand-up. And for March, Cheesy Sleazy seeks to honor Feminist March with an all-lady-lineup of performers, including Valarie Deville, Danielle Neblock, Genevieve Ferrari, Monisa Brown, Amanda Lynn Deal, and Wendy Weiss.
