This little creature has wiped out every fruit from every plant in my yard this year, and just arrived in the state one year ago. Including plums, wine grapes, and figs. All of my plants are in NE Portland, and this is the first year in ten that they are all infected.

The insect just arrived from Japan, attacks only ripe fruit, by injecting eggs-->maggots into them. This in contrast to other fruit flies, which go for the post-ripe fruit, and fermentation byproducts (making the insect something of a cultural change for everyone in this continent).

Please write a story about this, even if it is based solely on a 43-second google search. This is problematic for anyone here who is truly interested in growing their own food, and no one is writing about it due to pressure from the local vineyards. However, it is entirely out of control.
