Here’s a clip of heavy-psych band Radio Moscow show, from their January 7 show in Ames, Iowa. The band kind of broke up after this, and you’ll see why. Here’s the short version, distilled from Radio Moscow’s PR people: “DRUMMER HURLS FRONTMAN PARKER GRIGGS’ OWN GUITAR INTO GRIGGS’ HEAD—SENDING HIM TO THE EMERGENCY WARD TO RECEIVE 14 STITCHES TO THE FOREHEAD.”
But as you’ll see from the video, it looks like Griggs might have started the whole incident by throwing his guitar at the drummer to begin with. As least that’s how it looks to me.
The press release also includes a photo of Griggs with stitches in his forehead, which I’ll include for ya after the jump. It goes on to say that Griggs quickly assembled a new backing band—and the newly constituted lineup of Radio Moscow plays in Portland tonight, opening for Graveyard at the Doug Fir.
So I ask you, readers, after watching this video—

Can’t tell, all I can see is the most ill-advised outfit ever worn.
Fevered egos tainting the collective unconscious and making us pay a higher psychic price than we would otherwise have to.
AFTER SEEING THAT PHOTO, I CAN ONLY BE SAD THAT THE DRUMMER DIDN’T FINISH THE JOB.
Tell that asshole that he hasn’t been a good guitar player for 40 years.
A bit more info that the PR people left out:
– The rhythm section had already quit, and were begged to come back for the tour
– The night before the guitarist spent lots of time between songs berating the girlfriend of the bassist who was in the crowd
– The throwing of his guitar is usually done at the end of their set, because it fucks up the drum kit. This video is of the first song of the night.
– In the 8 years since parker griggs started performing as Radio Moscow, he has gone through over 10 sidemen!
I have no idea why their PR people or Alive Natural Sounds wants to promote this asshole so much, when the label has so many better more talented artist to focus their time on.
the fool took his eye off the guitar. Incoming!
That band is awful. I would cheerfully hit all of them in the head with a guitar!
The drummer reacted exactly as I would if someone threw an eight pound object my way.
Clown should really only pull that crap if he ever gets talented and famous. I don’t think a barista can afford to go through Fender Deluxes like that every night.
