As you may have heard, or potentially saw, both CNN and FOX News mistakenly reported that the SCOTUS this morning struck down the Affordable Care Act—causing a monumental embarrassment for both news agencies. New York Magazine put together this hilarious video of CNN and FOX making their gaffe and then spinning nearly out of control trying to correct it. And OMIGOD the look on Megyn Kelly’s face is soooooo sweet!

UPDATE: An editor over at the AP is telling his reporters via email to stop making fun of CNN and FOX News.

Please, immediately, stop taunting on social networks about CNN and others’ SCOTUS ruling mistake and the AP getting it right.

That’s not the impreßion we want to reflect as an organization. Let our reporting take the lead.

(pause) HAHAAHAHAAAAWWWWWWW!!

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. Can’t these people wait to read the thing before reporting on what it says?

I suppose I’m asking for the impossible –since Fox and CNN are beyond shame at this point– but it ought to make them ashamed that they’re reporting something, then when they realize they’re wrong, they blame how big and dense the opinion is? Like it’s the opinion’s fault?
