It’s been rumored for about a week, but now it looks official. This is a big fucking deal:

A Democratic Party source confirmed to The Huffington Post that the party will include a plank supporting marriage equality in its official platform at the upcoming convention.

The news, first reported by the Washington Blade, represents a historic and phenomenal win for LGBT rights groups, which could hardly have envisioned progress being made so quickly on this front.

The Democratic source relayed that officials unanimously agreed at a recent platform drafting committee meeting in Minneapolis to adopt language endorsing same-sex marriage. Several steps must be taken before the language is codified. A full platform committee will consider the draft in a meeting in Detroit in two weeks. It will then go to the convention delegates in Charlotte for final approval. But the deal is more or less final.

The only way this news could be bigger is if Republicans push to include an anti-gay-marriage plank in their platform, making this election an even clearer contrast on a civil rights issue.

  1. Community Colon, Random Oral Masochist and Dumb & Wrong. It’s a regular buttfucking trifecta. You know, when you fuckers play leap frog, you’re supposed to actually leap, not stay behind your partner breathing heavy and quoting Dan Savage. Please play safe. Check the CDC and educate yourselves before you do something you will regret.

Marriage is between a man and woman and I’m glad this shit is finally coming to light. The fucking useless haters that are all in a tizzy about a powerful, rich guy stating his correct opinion about marriage just goes to show how fucking intolerant and extremist liberals have become. No answers. No leadership. No responsibility.

No vote. Not mine. Not this time.

I feel sorry for the moderate liberals who have to associate with people with like you three. At least America is now able to see what you creeps are really about.

  2. @SJR, It kinda sounds like you’re the one in a tizzy about powerful, rich guys.

I didn’t think it was possible to actually hear someone sadly flogging a tiny boner all the way from St. Johns, but now I’ve been educated. #microfap

  3. SJR: how much do you charge to write full biographies? Your ability to extend a hint of data into a full-scale, steamy-as-hell narrative is astounding. I’m guessing you’re more drawn to writing gay slashfic than legit biographies, but I really think you should explore non-fiction a little further. I think you have a future.
