The clock hasn’t even officially hit Black Friday and already protesters have gathered outside SE 82nd Avenue’s WalMart to support tomorrow’s planned massive worker walkout. The Portland police have so far made one arrest of a person who was “creating a disturbance inside the store”—I assume that’s a protester, not someone stampeding for a new blender.

There are many workplace issues driving the walkout, including low pay, crummy benefits, and the company’s alleged systematic discrimination against female employees.

The big protest starts at Portland’s SE 82nd Avenue store tomorrow at 10:30am.

  1. Sam-
If your job sucks because you feel unfairly treated as a human being and you know other human beings will potentially hold the same position if you leave then why not speak up?

  2. What pisses me off most about this, is how many of them have worked for that company? Probably none. Also, why disturb the people who are choosing to shop this holiday night? Do you think it really bothers workers?
