Friday evening during rush hour seems like a nice time for a rally and march, right? The Portland Renters’ Assembly folks thought so. They started at City Hall and marched down Madison, right across the Hawthorne Bridge. It was peaceful and pretty orderly, but the rush hour and Hood to Coast people were none to pleased. I tried to live tweet it, but my Twitterz were feeling defiant and most of my posts wouldn’t go up.
Speaking of Hood to Coast, a participant went to the hospital when the van she was riding in was struck by another vehicle. Be careful out there this weekend, drivers!

President Obama is headed to Alaska on Monday to focus attention on the effects of climate change. I wonder if he’ll actually address the permits he issued allowing Shell drill for oil in the Chukchi Sea, which everyone seems to think is a bad idea…
…except for Obama, apparently. He defended his decision, saying, “our economy has to rely on oil and gas.” Sigh.
