It’s still February, but the time to forgo attending various events around town that have a cannabis component has ended. Just this week alone, there are three. There may be more, but I’m just one man, and these are the ones that I’m aware of and have info about which to share.

On Wednesday, February 17, we start with City Smokes: The Business of Recreational Marijuana, as City Club of Portlandโ€™s Business and Prosperity Forum is hosting a panel discussion on issues surrounding running a marijuana-based business. You will hear from panelists that cover all aspects and challenges faced by marijuana businesses including legalities, compliance, and sales. Doors open at 6 pm for a meet and greet, and the program begins at 6:30. It’s free, but you need to reserve tickets, which can be done here.

The cannabis community in Oregon is a powerful force, and politicians are beginning to recognize it as such. On Thursday, February 18, the National Cannabis Association PAC, Chalice Farms, and the various entities from the cannabis sector will host a fundraiser for Senator Ron Wyden. Tickets top out at $2,000 for four VIP spots to the pre-party. The two-hour cocktail party runs $100 per, but if you would like to contribute a separate amount, you have the option of doing so via an email. Tickets and info can be found here.

Don’t make plans for Friday, February 19, because we wrap up the week with a two-fer. It starts at the World Famous Cannabis Cafe (7958 SE Foster), which is hosting a pre-party from 7 to 9 pm, allowing you to consume your jazz tobacco inside a brick-and-mortar establishment. But grab a latte while you are there, because the the “pre” part of that refers to an event at Refuge (116 SE Yamhill) starting at 9 pm, when DJ Mark Farina releases his new album Mushroom Jazz 8, along with appearances by other DJs, and outside a cannabis consumption tent. You can grab tickets here.
