Voting time is nearly here, Portland. Ballots begin making their way to you by mail on Wednesday, the same day we’re dropping a definitive guide to your best bets in local races.

There’s so much up for grabs in this primary: a new mayor and two city commissioner seats (a majority of Portland City Council), three Multnomah County commission seats (a majority there, too), a gas tax, a president.

Voting in this state is easy as hell. You know what else is easy as hell? Making sure you’re properly registered to vote. You’ve got until tomorrow to get everything square with the Secretary of State’s Office. Maybe you’ve never registered, or your address isn’t current (because housing crisis) or you’re not affiliated with a political party (meaning you wouldn’t be able to vote in the presidential primary, regardless of your favorite candidate). Let’s change that.

If you’ve got an Internet connection (which you do), and a DMV number (on your driver’s license, permit, or state-issued ID), you can knock this out in 5 minutes. You’ve got until 11:59 pm on Tuesday. Do it now!

Here’s the link. Vote, damn you.

  1. Why is she “creepy,” because she’s not grinning? Girls and women have to be smiling broadly, or grinning, to not be considered creepy, Dirk? Seriously.

  2. She’s creepy not because she isn’t smiling broadly, but because she looks like one the kids from children on the corn.
